State announces Oct. 12 deadline for voter registration

September 14, 2004

The Maryland State Board of Elections has announced that the deadline for registering to vote in the presidential election is 9 p.m. Oct. 12.

The voter registration application must be received or postmarked by Oct. 12 to qualify for the Nov. 2 election.

Voter registration applications are available from the local election board, Department of Health office, Department of Social Services office, the Bureau of Aging, colleges, post offices and public libraries.

Applications also may be downloaded from the board's Web site, www.elections.state. md.us, or requested by calling 800-222-VOTE.

Elderly or disabled individuals who wish to vote in person, but whose election site is inaccessible, may ask to be reassigned to an accessible location. Requests for reassignment must be sent in writing to the local election board by Oct. 12.

If the individual is reassigned, he will still cast a home-precinct ballot.

The Carroll County Board of Elections is at 224 N. Center St., Room 105, Westminster.

Information: 410-386-2080.
