Dance fitness classes to be held for teens, adults

Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department and Bio Aerobics Inc. are co-sponsoring dance fitness classes for adults and teenagers. The session runs eight weeks and the cost is $56. Registration has begun.

Classes will be held at Northeast High School, Lake Shore Elementary School, Linthicum Elementary School, North County High School, Belle Grove Elementary School, Southgate Elementary School, and Oakwood Elementary School.

Art classes planned in fall at AACC

Anne Arundel Community College will offer art classes through a partnership with the Providence Center Inc.

"Handbuilding Clay Objects" meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 5 to Nov. 30 at the Earthtones Ceramics Studio, 40 Church Road, Arnold. Participants will focus on ceramic decorative and utilitarian forms as they learn the fundamentals of hand-built pottery, using pinching, slab, coil, draping and extruding techniques.

"Woodworking Fundamentals 1" meets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 18 to Nov. 22, at the Earthtones Wood Shop, 407 Headquarters Drive, Millersville.

Both classes require participants to wear closed-toe shoes and old work clothes or a work apron.

The Providence Center, a nonprofit agency established in 1961, operates the studios during the day as production studios for adult residents of the county with developmental disabilities. Information: 410-777- 2325.
