Yankees update

Since dropping two of three games to the Orioles last weekend in New York and mustering a total of eight hits and one run off starters Rodrigo Lopez and Sidney Ponson, the Yankees have awakened on offense. After sweeping the Tampa Bay Devil Rays last night, New York is averaging 8.2 runs a game in its past five contests, all wins. Before Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Orioles, Yankees manager Joe Torre put usual No. 2 hitter Derek Jeter into the leadoff role, and New York's catalyst has responded, going 11-for-20 with nine runs and six RBIs. Third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who has struggled all season hitting with runners on base, was moved from third to second in the batting order, and he is 6-for-17 with eight RBIs since. New York is 13-4 against the Orioles this season and 5-1 at Camden Yards.
