Children's author Lemony Snicket to make appearance Sept. 23

September 09, 2004

The Howard County Library will present best-selling children's author Lemony Snicket this month.

Snicket will talk about his personal history and provide details about the unlucky orphans whose exploits fill his books. He also will answer questions and sign two books for each person who attends.

The Grim Grotto, book No. 11 in A Series of Unfortunate Events, will be available for purchase and signing.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.

Admission is free. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the children's desks of Howard County Library branches starting Monday. Tickets, limited to four per customer, also can be reserved by phone but must be picked up at the branch by close of business the same day.

Seats will be held until 6:45 p.m., then given to people on a waiting list.

Howard County Library won a visit from the author because it won a contest last fall sponsored by HarperCollins, publisher of Snicket's books. Its winning entry was a display at the Central Library related to his books.
