Baltimore County police have charged a 23-year-old North Point man in the slaying of a woman with whom he shared an apartment, authorities announced today.

Jerry Lee Blankenship of the 2000 block of Bear Ridge Road is charged with first-degree murder in the death of June Ellen Angel, 35, police said. Her body was found Tuesday morning in a wooded area of Severn.

According to authorities, Angel had suffered blunt trauma to the head when a resident found her body about 10:55 a.m. in the 600 block of Sandy Hill Road. Anne Arundel County police used her fingerprints to identify the body and alerted Baltimore County authorities after Motor Vehicle Administration records linked her vehicle to the North Point address.

Baltimore County homicide investigators questioned Blankenship, and, based on his comments and evidence found at the apartment, charged him with Angel's murder, police said.

Bail was denied at an initial appearance before a court commissioner this morning. Blankenship was scheduled for a routine bail review before a judge on Thursday, police said.
