Towson University junior Allante Harrison has been named the Atlantic 10 Football Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

Harrison's selection gives the Tigers an A-10 award winner in their first week of league membership. A 5-10, 170-pound defensive back who starred at Woodlawn High, Harrison led the Tigers in a solid defensive effort that resulted in a convincing 34-13 season-opening victory at Elon on Saturday.

Harrison intercepted two passes and made eight tackles in the win. He also broke up one pass and had a quarterback sack. With three seconds left in the first half, he scored by returning an interception 45 yards for a touchdown, sending the Tigers into the lockeroom with a commanding 27-0 halftime lead.
