George F. Hudson Jr., 63, Beth Steel metallurgist

George F. Hudson Jr., a retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. metallurgist, died of a heart attack Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center. The Parkville resident was 63.

Mr. Hudson was born in Baltimore and raised in Locust Point. He graduated in 1958 from Mount St. Joseph High School in Irvington.

He served in the Marine Corps for four years and was discharged in 1962 with the rank of corporal.

That year, Mr. Hudson began his career at Bethlehem Steel, working as a metallurgist at Sparrows Point until he retired in 1999. While working, he earned a bachelor's degree by attending night classes at the University of Baltimore.

In 1963, he married Charlotte L. Exter. His wife, who was a secretary at what is now the Community College of Baltimore County, died in 2002.

Mr. Hudson enjoyed home remodeling projects.

Services were held Wednesday.

He is survived by two daughters, Jenifer Ann Boehm of Norrisville and Tammy Jeanette Kappauf of Pasadena; and three grandchildren.
