Motorists urged to exercise caution over Labor Day

State police will be out in force Labor Day weekend, and authorities have urged motorists to take special care to heed traffic rules, speed limits and the amount of alcohol they drink. Motorcyclists, especially, are urged to ride with caution.

Police said motorcycle crashes, deaths and injuries have increased nationwide; in Maryland, troopers are concerned with more motorcyclists being on the road as summer draws to a close.

Older motorcyclists are warned to ride safely, as serious injuries are more likely to result in death. All motorcyclists in Maryland are required to wear a helmet and eye protection.

Motorists who want to report accidents or drivers they suspect of being under the influence of alcohol can dial #77 on their cellular phones.

Worship in the Park scheduled for Sunday

The Rev. Terri Young from St. Paul's will preach, and both congregations will share in liturgy and music.

The community is welcome. Refreshments will be served after the worship service. Child care will be provided. In case of rain, the service will be held at the Church of the Brethren.
