You love an adventure. Love the outdoors. And hate to ask for directions. So get lost in the newest corn maze in Westminster.

The Gesell Property Corn Maze behind the Agriculture Center opens tomorrow. The new maze will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through November.

Located on the 102-acre Gesell property, the old-fashioned corn maze offers a short, medium or long trail through 17 1/2 acres of corn. Maze patterns include a barn, silo, cow and windmill.

Visitors will be aided by "You Are Here" stations located throughout the maze. Volunteers along the trails will offer guidance. Also, for the adventurous night visitors, flashlights will be available for purchase, or visitors can bring their own flashlights.

No pets or alcoholic beverages are permitted on the property. Soft drinks and bottled water will be available for purchase. But think twice about guzzling too much water or soda. There will be portable toilets, but visitors will have to find their way out of the maze to reach them.

The Gesell Farm Board, a nonprofit corporation, developed the maze as an agricultural-education tool for locals and for visitors to the Westminster area.

In addition to its weekend hours, the corn maze will be open during the week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but only for reservation by groups of 15 people or more.

The corn maze opens tomorrow and will remain open through November, weather permitting. The Gesell property is behind the Agriculture Center, off Smith Avenue in Westminster. Hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays-Sundays. Last entry to the maze is at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for ages 13 to adult; $5 for ages 6-12; free for ages 5 and under. Call 410-876-2667 or 410-848-7775.
