Punch up: www.fueleconomy.gov.

Why it clicks: Do you know how much gas your car runs through in a year? Or how many tons of greenhouse gases your car emits? You can quickly find out by visiting this federal Web site, which offers a host of information on fuel consumption and efficiency.

The download: Click on "Find and Compare Cars," then select the year, manufacturer and model of your vehicle. In an instant, the site responds with a listing of mileage rates, estimated annual fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions. The site also includes tips for more fuel-efficient driving and a tool that tells how much you could save on gas by switching to a higher-mileage vehicle.
