Rangers update

Former Orioles pitcher Scott Erickson was scheduled to start tonight's game for the Rangers, but they have promoted Wasdin from Triple-A Oklahoma to make the start. Erickson has gone 1-3 with a 6.16 ERA in four starts, including a loss against the Orioles at Camden Yards on Aug. 7. Texas (71-55), which trails first-place Oakland by 2 1/2 games, will look to rebound against the Orioles after getting swept in four games that series. When Mount St. Joseph alum Mark Teixeira, 24, hit his 30th home run Saturday, he became the third-youngest switch-hitter in major league history to record a 30-homer season. Ruben Sierra accomplished the feat at age 21 in 1987, and Mickey Mantle did it at age 23 in 1955.
