Public meeting on county's fiscal health postponed

The county departments of the Comptroller and of Management and Budget have postponed a public meeting on the fiscal health of the county that was scheduled for Tuesday in the Carroll County Office Building.

The meeting, which has not yet been rescheduled, will be an informational session on the fiscal health of Carroll County and will offer residents a better understanding of fiscal plans and management practices.

The county office building is at 225 N. Center St., Westminster.

State police accepting academy applicants

The Maryland State Police is seeking applicants for the academy's next training class.

Training is available for cadets (ages 18 to 20) and troopers (ages 20 to 58). Requirements for applicants include U.S. citizenship, a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or its equivalent and physical fitness.

The agency offers paid training and recruits can earn college credit. There also is a wide range of assignments for qualified troopers and cadets, including forensics, the canine unit and criminal investigation.
