WINE OF THE WEEK

August 25, 2004|By Michael Dresser

2003 Dr. Konstantin Frank Dry Riesling, Finger Lakes ($16). The Finger Lakes region of New York state may be the best place in North America to grow riesling that approaches the quality of Germany's best. This crystalline riesling from the pioneering Frank winery is an excellent example, with its crisp and long flavors of slate, apple and citrus fruit. Its lively acidity gives it a refreshing finish. This wine can be enjoyed by itself, but an ideal pairing would be a light fish dish such as Dover sole.
