A 16-year-old Severn youth was arrested yesterday after he admitted to fatally shooting a Glen Burnie teenager Friday night and firing at a woman getting into a car that was carrying her two young daughters, Anne Arundel County police said.

Police charged Anthony Deyonko Switzer, 16, of the 7900 block of Beach Plum Lane in Severn with murder and attempted murder yesterday. He was being held without bail and was scheduled to appear in court at a bail hearing today.

The victim, identified as Doray Delonte Jones, 18, of the 400 block of Elwell Court in Glen Burnie, was found at 10:24 p.m. Friday with a gunshot wound to the upper body in a car on Carriage Drive near Gallop Way, behind Van Bokkelen Elementary School in Severn.

Police said they think Jones was shot about an hour earlier and are unsure whether it was a random shooting.

FOR THE RECORD - An article Tuesday suggested that a fatal shooting Friday night occurred directly behind Van Bokkelen Elementary School in Severn. The shooting took place about two blocks from school grounds but about one-third of a mile from the school building.
The Sun regrets the errors.
