A 19-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a shooting Saturday night in Essex, Baltimore County police said.

Daquan Tasheem Corner of the first block of Reaching Circle in Essex was being held without bail yesterday in the fatal shooting of Issiah Davis, 23, of the 1000 block of Foxwood Lane in Essex, police said.

Davis was shot several times in the upper body just after midnight Saturday behind a house on Rumelia Circle in Essex, police said. He was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead.

A witness identified Corner as the shooter, police said, and he was quickly arrested.

The witness, whose name does not appear in charging documents because, police said, he fears retaliation, told officers that Corner approached Davis and the witness at a pavilion behind the Rumelia Circle house, according to court documents.

Corner held a gun to the witness' head and ordered him not to move, the documents state. Davis ran to escape being shot, and then the witness fled, according to the documents. The witness told police he heard numerous gunshots, according to the documents.

Baltimore County police said yesterday that they are unsure of the motive behind the shooting, which is the county's 20th homicide this year.
