Women in leadership workshop scheduled Friday at college

Howard Community College and Howard County Human Resources Society will sponsor "Cultivating Women in Leadership: Developing the Future CEO," a workshop for leaders, executive women and human resource professionals, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in Room 6 of the college's Charles I. Ecker Business Training Center, 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia.

The workshop will be presented by Alicia M. Rodriguez, principal of Sophia Associates LLC, a local executive and leadership coaching practice. A book-signing is planned for Patricia J. Ohlott, co-author with Marian N. Ruderman of Standing at the Crossroads: Next Steps for High-Achieving Women.

The cost, which includes a continental breakfast and a lunch sponsored by TIAA-CREF, is $79.

Resource center to hold proposal-writing seminar

The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Business Resource Center, in cooperation with F.M. Gaston & Associates of Ellicott City, will sponsor "Proposal Development: How? What? Why?," a seminar on the basics of creating professional proposals, and preparing responses to government or commercial proposal requests.

The workshop, for owners of large and small businesses, government contractors, marketing and sales staff and consultants, will be from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Center for Business and Technology Development, 9250 Bendix Road North, Columbia.

The workshop will be conducted by Felicia M. Gaston, a consultant for government marketing, acquisitions and proposal writing.

Sept. 1 career fair at physics lab canceled

The Columbia One-Stop Employment Resource Center's career fair, scheduled for Sept. 1 at the Kossiakoff Computing Center at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, has been canceled.
