Blue Jays update

Interim manager John Gibbons, who relieved the fired Carlos Tosca on Aug. 8, has been unable to energize the last-place Blue Jays. Toronto (49-72), losers of four straight and nine of the past 11, is more than 20 games under .500 for the first time since 1995. Just 4-14 this month, the Blue Jays have been especially brutal away from SkyDome with a 19-43 record. The Orioles are 6-3 against their division rival, including an 11-7 victory Sunday after erasing a 7-2 Toronto lead after six innings. The Orioles will get another shot at Josh Towers, who beat his former team Saturday. It's been a long, injury-riddled season for Jays first baseman Carlos Delgado, but he has showed signs of breaking out recently with eight home runs and 22 RBIs in his past 23 games.
