A Washington man was killed and a Laurel man was seriously injured yesterday morning after they were thrown from a truck during a two-vehicle accident near Arundel Mills mall, police said.

Angelo W. Martin, 34, and Jeffrey Porter Ford, 41, were flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center about 9:45 a.m. Martin died a short time later, and Ford was admitted in serious condition, according to a report from Anne Arundel County police.

According to the police report, a GMC Jimmy truck, driven by Ford and carrying Martin and another passenger, ran a red light on Arundel Mills Boulevard at Bass Pro Drive and the ramp to Route 100. As it crossed the intersection, the truck was hit by a Ford Taurus, the report said.

Martin and Ford, who were not wearing seat belts, were thrown from the vehicle.

Ford's other passenger and the driver of the Taurus sustained minor injuries, police said.

The department is investigating the accident.
