Costar Group Inc.

Shares of the Bethesda-based company, which provides information about office and industrial space for the commercial real estate industry, rose 4.6 percent yesterday and are up 7.4 percent this week after the company reported Friday a nearly ninefold increase in earnings for the year that ended June 30.


BellSouth Corp.

The Southern phone company fell a nickel a share to $27.15 yesterday after saying that a new medical benefits plan for its retirees will dent earnings by 3 to 4 cents a share in the fourth quarter.
