On July 20, 2004, IDA S. MILLER. A teacher of mentally challenged children, died of natural causes at Roland Park Place in Baltimore, MD. She was 95 and had lived in Baltimore for the past 14 years. Born Ida Barrett Shelley in Forty Fort, PA, she graduated from Beaver College in 1928, before beginning her teaching career. In 1933, she married Dr. J. Malcolm Miller, a Pittston, PA dentist. She loved teaching and was active in numerous civic organizations. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and playing bridge regularly into her 80's. She spent much of the late nine months enjoying the company of her great-grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia M. Schmidt, of Baltimore, two grandsons, Douglas E. Schmidt, of Baltimore and Dr. James M. Schmidt, of Virginia Beach, VA and great-grandson, Spencer M. Schmidt, of Baltimore. A Memorial Service will be held at Roland Park Place in Baltimore on August 19 at 4 P.M.
