Howard Crime Report

The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Blue Pool Lane: 8900 block, Long Reach. Someone pried open a window to enter a home and stole a video game system, digital video disc movies and a camera Aug. 6.

Farewell Road: 9300 block, Oakland Mills. Someone used a ladder on a deck to climb through an unsecured second-floor window Aug. 7. A 35-inch television and a digital video disc-videocassette recorder were stolen.

West Columbia

Columbia Road: 5600 block, Dorseys Search. Police said they arrested Michael C. Donahue, a North Carolinian who was staying at a nearby hotel, late Aug. 9 and charged him with indecent exposure. A witness observed the man peeping into windows and committing a lewd act.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Baltimore National Pike: 9200 block, Ellicott City. Officers responded to an alarm at Jiffy Lube and found the front glass door shattered and a cash register stolen Aug. 2.

N. Laurel/Savage/Jessup

Washington Blvd.: 7800 block, Jessup. Officers responded to an alarm at JR's Chicken & Seafood restaurant and found the front glass door smashed and cash stolen Aug. 2.

Cedar Ave.: 7300 block, Jessup. Officers responding to an alarm at Frank's Diner found the front door smashed and cash stolen from the business Aug. 2.

Canterbury Riding: 9500 block, North Laurel. Someone entered a home and stole a laptop computer and a watch about 10 a.m. July 30.

Peachwood Drive: 8300 block, Jessup. Someone broke a lock off a shed and stole a power scooter and a dirt bike July 31.

Livery Lane: 9200 block, North Laurel. Someone entered a home by cutting a screen and breaking a front window between 1 p.m. and midnight July 31. The intruder ransacked the apartment and took cash, cameras and a cellular telephone.

Western Howard

Scaggsville Road: 11800 block, Scaggsville. Someone broke in through the front door of Hi Lites hair salon and stole money about 10 p.m. July 30.

Frederick Road: 12600 block, West Friendship. Three people drove into the rear parking lot of Van Sant Plumbing and Heating between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 3. The three - who were videotaped by surveillance cameras - broke into the bay area of the building and stole power tools.
