WINE OF THE WEEK

August 18, 2004|By Michael Dresser

2002 Schlumberger "Les Princes Abbes" Pinot Blanc ($17). There's a delightful interplay of pure fruit flavors in this lively white wine from Alsace. It's almost enough to make you forget it's dry. It offers vibrant flavors of lemon, melon, pear, lychee, cherries and minerals. Its texture is silky but there's plenty of crisp acidity. This is one of the easiest-to-drink sipping wines you could imagine, but it also would pair well with turkey, pork or spicy Asian dishes.
