On August 15, 2004, GRANT AVERY RINES, SR., beloved husband of the late Mary S. Rines, devoted father of Grant A. Rines, Jr., Diane Kahlenberg, Regina Zaworski and Janet Rines, dear brother of Maude Calabrese. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren Friends call at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home, P.A., 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral Services on Thursday at 11 A.M. Interment Holly Hill Memorial Gardens SEARLES SR., 84, died on August 13, 2004 in Sandy Springs, Ga. Born in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Searles spent 50 years as a resident of the Overlea District of Baltimore, Md. He entered into 31 years of dedicated service with the United States Postal Service in Baltimore on July 1, 1949. During his career, he was a long time member of the Federation, and held a variety of offices in Local 181-4 including Substitute Representative, Sergeant at Arms, Treasurer, Trustee, Administrative Director and a one time National Delegate of the AFL-CIO. As an active member of the community, he was a member of RAMMS, the Scottish Rite, Highland Masonic Lodge of Patterson Park, and the Boumi Temple. He also was a member of the 2nd and 4th Baptist Church of Patterson Park, Baltimore, Md. and Hazelwood Baptist Church in Baltimore County, Md. He is survived by his son, Nelson Jr. and his wife Elizabeth; daughter Mary Alyce Mc Cullough and her husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Nicholas, Bradley, Eamonn and Judith with her husband Oscar, and one great-grandchild, Eva. Services will be held in Lowesville, Va., where he will be buried beside his wife of 52 years, Eva Massie Searles. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. H.M.
