Circus at Mondawmin

Starting tomorrow, enjoy performances by the Universoul Circus, the nation's only African-American-owned circus. Experience classic circus fun and innovative urban showmanship all in one show. Laugh at clowns, be amazed by aerialists and daredevil motorcyclists, and watch elephants and horses.

MPT picnic

Spend Sunday eating and having fun at Maryland Public Television's Family Fun-Raising Picnic. The food will include chicken, beef and sausages, as well as hamburgers and hot dogs. For kids, the fun will range from jumping on a moon bounce to painting hats and playing volleyball. For adults, there will be live music, a raffle and a silent auction.

The picnic takes place at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children under 4. To buy tickets, call 410-581-4339..

Film festival

Watch blockbuster movies outdoors and benefit the National Institutes of Health Children's Charities at Comcast's eighth annual film festival, tomorrow through Aug. 22 at Strathmore Hall in North Bethesda. Bring a blanket and a picnic basket, or buy food from vendors. Enjoy Casablanca andThe Wizard of Oz, as well as more recent films, such as Chicago and The Lord of the Rings.
