Camp update

August 11, 2004|By Brent Jones

Thumbs up: S Marcell Allmond batted down two passes, including the final one in the morning practice. ... Kyle Boller made a number of impressive throws, the best coming on a 30-yard corner route to Devard Darling. It was one of Boller's best practices. ... LB John Garrett had an interception and fumble recovery. ... Todd Devoe and Kareem Kelly had strong practices, both running precise routes and catching anything within reach.

Thumbs down: Chester Taylor fumbled away one of his carries, the first turnover by a running back this training camp. ... Kordell Stewart threw an interception to Garrett. ... Training camps seem to be getting easier every year. Though the team is in full gear, tackling is nonexistent.

Quotable: "If you are not particularly up to play football that day, he will get you there." - linebacker Terrell Suggs on assistant coach Jeff FitzGerald

Injuries: OLB Peter Boulware (knee), QB Anthony Wright (shoulder), RB B.J. Sams (thumb), TE Trent Smith (leg) and T Matt Zielinski (knee) did not practice. CB Chris McAlister (contract dispute) is not in attendance.

Today's schedule: Full-squad practice, 8:45-11 a.m.

Countdown to season opener: 32 days.
