Maryland State Police are investigating a one-vehicle accident that killed a Glen Burnie teenager early yesterday.

Leonard McKnight, 14, was pronounced dead about 3:30 a.m. after he was thrown from the sport utility vehicle in which he was riding, said police spokesman Sgt. Graham Lange.

The driver of the Suzuki Vitara XL7, Harold Queensbury, Jr., 28, of Glen Burnie, suffered injuries and was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed yesterday afternoon in serious but stable condition. Queensbury and the victim were related.

The accident occurred on the southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway at Interstate 895 in Baltimore County.

Preliminary reports show that the vehicle struck the right guardrail, overturned and then traveled across the southbound lanes until it came to a stop in an upright position, Lange said.

Lange said police are investigating the cause of the accident.
