Ruth Tyson-Curtis, 68, medical lab receptionist

Ruth Tyson-Curtis, a retired medical lab receptionist, died of a heart attack Monday at University of Maryland Medical Center. The Catonsville resident was 68.

Born Ruth Tyson in the Bronx, N.Y., and raised in Manhattan, she moved to Catonsville with her family and was a 1955 graduate of Baltimore County's old Benjamin Banneker High School.

After living for a time in New York, she moved to Baltimore in 1974 and a year later began working at the former University Hospital. She retired in 1999 as the pathology laboratory's receptionist.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Beechfield United Methodist Church, 541 S. Beechfield Ave.

Survivors, all of Baltimore, include two sons, Timothy Ryan and Anthony Ryan; a daughter, Yvette Curtis; and a granddaughter. Her marriage ended in divorce.
