Midsummer Dreams

It's midsummer and we've got the blahs. After more than a month of flip flops, snowballs and tank tops, we're tired of the same old same old. We need a little lift, a little something different, a little change. So we reached into our stash of stuff and found a handful of beauty items to perk up the dog days of summer.

Take Thymes for your feet

Those cute flip flops you picked up on clearance are no longer doing the job of drawing attention away from your feet. Your dogs are barking for help. They're rough, scaly, not so fresh.

Grab a bag of Everyday Essentials Foot Care products from Thymes, and your tootsies will be looking tops in no time. The Restorative Foot Soak in the kit is a minty Epsom salt blend that reduces swelling, eases aches and neutralizes odors. The Smoothing Foot Scrub is a blend of ground walnut shells and pumice to exfoliate and soften feet. And the Multi-Action Foot Care cream contains natural fruit acids and humectants to exfoliate and soften dry skin.

Now that's better.

The Thymes Everyday Essentials Foot Care Kit costs $45 and is available at www.thymes.com. Other products from Thymes are available at Hometown Girl in Hampden. For a store near you, call 800-366-4071.

A sleeker, less furry man

The Fab Five on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy are always talking about body hair removal. Looking like Smoky the Bear may be warm, but it's sure unattractive come bathing suit season.

Many men are reluctant to visit a salon for waxing, and you won't find them too thrilled about the prospect of shaving their backs either. Which is why the Nad's for Men kit caught our eye.

There, in the privacy of his own bathroom, your guy can take off the unwanted body hair that's been getting you down. From soap for preparing the skin, to no-heat hair removal gel to soothing balm, it's all in the kit. Got questions? Refer to the enclosed instructional CD-ROM in the kit.

See ya later, Smoky. Hello, Smooth.

Nad's for Men hair removal kit costs $29.95 and is available at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Kohl's, Rite-Aid and at www.nads.com.

From dull to glossy

Speaking of smooth, your tresses are looking far from it after weeks of chlorine, surf and sun. A little help please?
