Hays House plans ice cream social

The Hays House Museum plans an ice cream social from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at the museum, 324 Kenmore Ave., Bel Air.

The event will feature 18th-century music and living history demonstrations such as hearth cooking, scrimshaw, basket weaving and spinning. The music will include fiddle and dulcimer tunes and flute and vocal performances.

The Hays House, built in 1788, is open Sundays for tours. Admission for tours and for this event is $3 for adults, $2 for students and seniors; free for those under age 4 and Historical Society of Harford County members. Information: 410-838-7691.

Bel Air panel seeking Christmas Parade entries

The Bel Air Economic and Community Development Commission is soliciting participants for the town's 2004 Christmas Parade, which is set for Dec. 5.

Examples of possible entries are floats, mobile units, antique cars, marching units and color guards.
