Grace F. Novasio, a former receptionist in a Bolton Hill apartment house, died of heart failure Tuesday at a daughter's Hagerstown home. She was 84.

Grace Florence Stock was born and raised in New York City. She lived in Newport, R.I., before coming to Aberdeen Proving Ground in the 1960s as an ordnance worker.

During the 1970s, she worked in the accounting department of Melart-Reeds Jewelers in Annapolis. For the past 14 years until retiring this year and moving to Hagerstown, Mrs. Novasio was a receptionist at Memorial Apartments on McMechen Street, where she lived.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching classic Hollywood films.

Her marriages to Herman Visser and Richard Novasio ended in divorce.

Plans for a memorial service were incomplete yesterday.

Mrs. Novasio is survived by a son, Edward H. Visser of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Evelyn G. Meany of Hagerstown and Pamela J. Holmes of Stephens City, Va.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
