Twins update

Minnesota completed a two-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays yesterday to remain atop the American League Central. The Twins have won five of their past six games, and this will be the first meeting with the Orioles this season. Joe Nathan, Minnesota's lone representative at this year's All-Star Game, has converted 20 consecutive save opportunities and 27 of 28 on the season. He hasn't allowed a run since June 6. Rookie catcher Joe Mauer was establishing himself as one of the top hitters in Minnesota's lineup before going back on the disabled list Monday with soreness in his surgically repaired left knee. First baseman Doug Mientkiewicz also went on the DL Monday, with a sore left wrist.
