Police identify man charged in attack on ex-girlfriend

July 22, 2004|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Baltimore County police released yesterday the name of a 30-year-old Lansdowne man who has been charged with attempted murder in an attack over the weekend on his former girlfriend.

Michael William Hall of the 900 block of Catawaba Court is charged with punching the woman in the face after bursting into her home in the 5600 block of Selford Road in Arbutus and finding her with a man, punching the man in the face and chasing him out of the house, then returning to the home and stabbing the woman several times.

The woman was released yesterday from Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was treated for stab wounds, fractured facial bones and a possible fractured skull, police said. Hall also has been charged with first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, burglary and destruction of property.

Because of the location of some of the woman's stab wounds, police are investigating whether the attack was a sexual assault, said Bill Toohey, county police spokesman. The Sun does not publish the names of the victims of sex crimes.
