Red Sox update
The Orioles haven't seen the Red Sox since Memorial Day, but they'll see them 13 more times before the season ends. The Orioles lead the season series, 4-2. The teams were rained out twice in April at Fenway Park, and tomorrow's doubleheader will be the second of those makeup games. Boston has been reeling in its attempts to keep up with the New York Yankees in the American League East, but the Red Sox are tied with Oakland for the wild-card lead. Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra and right fielder Trot Nixon have returned since the Orioles last saw Boston. David Ortiz continues to put up MVP-type numbers, as he is batting .305 with 26 home runs and 87 RBIs. Manny Ramirez has 27 home runs, including a 430-foot shot yesterday.
