CSX to close road at crossing through Friday for repairs

The CSX Railroad is planning to close Newport/Flag Marsh Road at the railroad crossing for repairs starting today.

Repairs are scheduled to be completed by the end of Friday.

Detours will be marked throughout the area.

98 Rock Blood Drive starts today at TownMall

TownMall of Westminster will hold the 19th annual 98 Rock Blood Drive with the American Red Cross this week.

Radio station WIYY-FM will give all donors a T-shirt and provide games and giveaways for shoppers. Selected mall merchants will offer coupons to donors.

The blood drive will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today, tomorrow, and Friday next to Carlton Cards. No appointments are necessary.

The radio station will broadcast live from center court.

GOP central committee looking to fill vacancy

The Carroll County Republican Central Committee is accepting applications and resumes from Republicans interested in filling a vacancy on the nine-member panel.

Prospective applicants must be registered Republicans and must live in Carroll County. Applications, postmarked no later than Monday, should be mailed to P.O. Box 2108, Westminster 21158.

The committee will conduct interviews next month.
