BSO's `Night in Italy'

Revel in the summer delights of great wine and great music at the BSO's A Night in Italy tomorrow at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

Conjuring images of rolling Italian landscapes and Roman ruins, the event begins with a 5:30 p.m. wine tasting. A live concert follows, featuring conductor Juanjo Mena and horn players Philip Munds and Peter Landgren.

Tickets are $35-$55 and can be purchased at the Symphony Hall Ticket Office at 100 W. Preston St. or by calling 410-783-8000.

Wine and reggae

Don't forget a beach chair and blanket for plenty of Jamaican-themed fun at the Reggae Wine Festival, Saturday and Sunday at the Linganore Winecellars in Mount Airy.

After touring the winery and sampling its many vintages, pull up a seat and rock steady to the tunes of local acts Jah Works and the Image Band.

Admission is $10 for adults and includes an engraved glass and 19 wine tastings. Children get in free when accompanied by a parent.

This event takes place outdoors, rain or shine. Gates will open at 11 a.m. Pets are not allowed. Linganore Winecellars is at 13601 Glissans Mill Road in Mount Airy. Call 410-795-6432.

Wine and zydeco

Enjoy bayou-style music Saturday at Boordy Vineyards with Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band New Orleans.

Bring food or buy crab cakes and pit beef from Carl's Catering and complement any snack with a chilled bottle or glass of Boordy's award-winning wine. Gates open at 6 p.m., followed by a dance lesson from a professional instructor at 6:30 p.m. The concert will run from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 2 to 12.

Paddle the Gunpowder

Navigate the Upper Gunpowder River Saturday and Sunday with the Oregon Ridge Nature Center.

Summer naturalists will lead canoe trips from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants must be experienced canoeists who are at least 8 years old, and an adult must accompany children under 16.

Bring snacks, drinks, a hat, sunglasses, a towel and shoes that can get wet. Admission is $10, due in advance.

Oregon Ridge Nature Center is at 13555 Beaver Dam Road in Cockeysville. Call 410-887-1815 for reservations; space is limited.
