DR. JIM A. STUNKARD, 69, of Edgewater, MD died 12 July 2004, from lung cancer. His childhood was spent in Merino and Crook, Colorado. He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Colorado State University and his Master of Science degree from Texas A & M University. Dr. Stunkard was Board Certified in Laboratory Animal Medicine and the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Avian Medicine subspecialty. A veteran of active and reserve duty in the United States Air Force, he retired as a Colonel. Dr. Stunkard owned and operated the Bowie Animal Hospital in Bowie, MD for 25 years. He was a consultant to various federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area. His interests were family, fishing, hunting and traveling. He held various positions within the veterinary organizations and was devoted to his profession. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Patricia Dotson Stunkard, two sons, Todd Stunkard of Atlanta, GA, Cory Stunkard of Annapolis, MD, one sister, Margaret Kelly of Vancouver, BC. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Belle Lutz. Friends may call at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M., where memorial services will be held on Friday, July 16 at 1 P.M. Inurnment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 MD Rt. 3 North, Bldg. A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
