Olander joins Avatech as general counsel, VP

Avatech Solutions Inc. announced that Christopher Olander has joined the Baltimore-based provider of manufacturing, design and engineering systems integration solutions as executive vice president and general counsel. A law graduate of the University of Maryland, he taught at the Loyola University (Chicago) and University of Baltimore law schools.

Thales appoints Arden business development chief

Thales Communications Inc. appointed Michael Arden as a business development manager for the Clarksville-based electronics and systems company. He is responsible for expansion of the firm's tactical radio business in the international market. Formerly a planner for Millennium Chemicals, the Michigan State University graduate and Gaithersburg resident served 10 years as an officer in the Marines.

FOR THE RECORD - A "People on the Move" item in Tuesday's Business section mistakenly reported the title for Jeanne A. Kennedy at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. She has been vice president for business risk and treasury management and will assume the added position of treasurer. The Sun regrets the error.

Hewitt joins Ober/Kaler business, tax practice

Ober/Kaler admitted Nicole R. Hewitt to practice in its Baltimore office in the business and tax department. A University of Baltimore law graduate, she earned a master's degree in taxation law at Georgetown University. The Lutherville resident is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and is active with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer's Service.

Kennedy is CareFirst VP for business risk, treasury

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield named Jeanne A. Kennedy vice president for business risk and treasury management. She is responsible for corporate and retirement portfolios and daily cash management of the Maryland and Washington affiliates of the Owings Mills-based health insurer. A resident of Ellicott City, Kennedy is a graduate of Villanova University.

Commercial Real Estate

NAI KLNB names North, McCulloch associates

NAI KLNB named J.S. McCulloch and Michele D. North leasing associates for the Towson-headquartered regional commercial real estate brokerage and management firm.

McCulloch, assigned to the Baltimore office, was formerly with Tower Resource Management. A Baltimore resident, the Johns Hopkins University graduate assists in the leasing and sales of office, retail and warehouse properties in the greater Baltimore area.

North, formerly with New Jersey-based Paramount Properties Unlimited, assists in leasing of office, commercial and industrial properties at the firm's Columbia office.
