DONALD WALTER ROSS, 72, of Sherwood Forest, MD died July 9, 2004 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer and emphysema. Mr. Ross was born in Brooklyn, NY, October 13, 1931. He was educated in Baltimore area schools and was a graduate of the University of Baltimore and attended Mt. Vernon School of Law. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and served in the Guard and Army Reserve from 1948 to 1960 achieving the rank of Battalion Sgt. Major. His entire career was spent in the Automotive Parts After Market. He worked 12 years for the TRW After Market as Sales and Marketing Manager for the midwest region. He left TRW to return east and became Eastern Sales and Marketing Manager for Hastings Manufacturing Company and retired after 30 years of service. He was known in the Annapolis area for his boating interest. He held a United States Coast Guard Captains and Masters License and worked part time for the Annapolis Harbor Masters office, operating the Patrol boats. He was a member of the Sherwood Forest Club, 29th Division Association, University of Baltimore Alumni Association, Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association, Western Front Association, the Fleet Reserve Association and Calvary United Methodist Church. For many years, he volunteered at the BWI Airport information desk and also at the State Of Maryland Welcome Center. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; a daughter Donna Ross Weinstein of Sherwood Forest and Boston, MA; a son Robert R. Ross of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; three grandsons, Morgan, Barton and Larson Weinstein; son-in-law Charles Weinstein and daughter-in-law Laura Ross. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD on July 24, 2004. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sherwood Forest Endowment Fund, Sherwood Forest, MD 21405 or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis MD 21401 or the American Lung Association, 1840 York Rd, Suite M, Timonium, MD 21093.
