College offering one-session course on King Arthur

Harford Community College is offering a one-session course, "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table." from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fallston Hall on the HCC campus.

The legend of King Arthur, a blend of history and myth, has been added to by generations of storytellers.

Entries sought for playwriting contest

Harford Community College is seeking entries for a one-act playwriting contest. The deadline to submit entries is Sept. 1.

Prizes are $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

Dance company to hold auditions for `Nutcracker'

Harford Dance Theatre of Harford Community College will hold auditions Aug. 7 for dancers and actors for the company's annual production of the holiday classic The Nutcracker.

For children ages 8 through 12 with a minimum of one to two years ballet training, registration is at 9:30 a.m. and auditions from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; for male and female character roles, ages 18 and older, registration 10:30 a.m. and auditions 11 a.m. to noon; for male and female dancers, ages 13 to 17, with a minimum of three to four years ballet training (non-pointe roles), registration 11:30 a.m. with required warm-up at noon and auditions 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; for male and female dancers ages 13 to 17, with a minimum of five to six years of training (pointe roles), registration 2 p.m., required warm-up class 2:30 p.m. and auditions 3 p.m.
