Sharon M. Nickels, 37, homemaker, paralegal

Sharon M. Nickels, a homemaker and former paralegal, died of breast cancer Saturday at Anne Arundel Medical Center. The Crownsville resident was 37.

Born Sharon Michelle Herriman in Washington, she was raised in Bowie and was a 1985 graduate of Bowie High School. She earned a degree in criminal justice from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1989 and a master's degree in business from the Johns Hopkins University in 1997.

Mrs. Nickels worked for several years in the contract law department of Macro International in Lanham before leaving in 1998 to raise her family. Earlier, she had been a paralegal for several firms in Baltimore and Washington.

She was interested in politics and enjoyed hand-sewing quilts. She was an avid collector of Disney memorabilia, which she displayed in her home.

"She also had visited Disneyland and Walt Disney World many times," said her husband of 12 years, Robert B. Nickels.

She was a parishioner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today.

Survivors also include two sons, Riley H. Nickels, 6, and Evan H. Nickels, 4; her parents, Dave and Joanne Herriman of Crownsville; and a sister, Julie Floyd of Annapolis.
