O'Malley center plans visit to Jug Bay July 23

O'Malley Senior Center will sponsor a visit to Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 23. Participants will travel by canoe through the marshlands of southern Anne Arundel County.

The tour guide will be a staff member with the environmental department of the Smithsonian Institution. Participants should wear hats and sturdy shoes suitable for getting wet, and should pack a lunch in a waterproof bag. Registration is required. Computer workshop set for Friday, July 16

O'Malley Senior Center will offer a computer workshop, "How To Use Mail Merge," from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and July 16. Instructor Staton Kaufman will teach students to merge labels with documents and letters with mailings, and how to set up address books and edit them. The fee for the two-day workshop is $10, payable at registration. A CD for practice at home will be provided. The center is at 1275 Odenton Road. 410-222-6227 or 301-621-9515.

Puppet play encourages better communication

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health will present a play at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at O'Malley Senior Center. Presented with puppets, the comedy encourages better communication between older people and health-care professionals. There is no fee.

Congressman to discuss prescription drug program

Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin will be at O'Malley Senior Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for a town hall-style meeting at which he will discuss the Medicare prescription drug program. Registration is not required. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation.

Photo IDs to be issued by MTA July 16

The Maryland Transit Administration will issue photo IDs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 16 at O'Malley Senior Center. The IDs are to be used for discounts on the light rail, subway and MTA buses. Recipients must be age 65 or older. Proof of age is required. There is no fee.

Home safety program planned for July 20

O'Malley Senior Center will sponsor a Home Safety/Fall Prevention program at 10 a.m. July 20 at the center. A representative from the occupational therapy department at North Arundel Hospital will offer information on making homes safer by installing rails in showers and taking other measures. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Tea Time Seminar planned for July 20

Ellen DeCaro will present a Tea Time Seminar at 1 p.m. July 20 at Annapolis Senior Center. Those who attend will taste teas from places including China, Japan and Russia. The fee is $7. Registration is required; 410-222-1818. The center is at 1027 Bay Ridge Ave.
