Phillies update

Philadelphia went 13-14 in June and finished the month in a tie with the Florida Marlins atop the National League East. It has been a rocky run for those two teams, as most experts expected them to run away with the division. Instead, the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves have been hanging close. Don't fault first baseman Jim Thome. He slugged 15 home runs in June and drove in 31 runs. No Phillies player had hit 15 home runs in a month since Cy Williams did it in May 1923. The Orioles have played Philadelphia every year since interleague play began in 1997 and lead the all-time series, 17-16. Last year, the Phillies swept three games at Camden Yards.
