An Ellicott City teenager was killed yesterday, and another teenager was seriously injured in a single-vehicle car accident in Columbia, Howard County police said.

Matthew Robert Sims, 17, was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis west on Oakland Mills Road between Old Montgomery Road and Sohap Lane shortly after 12:30 p.m. when his car approached a bend in the road, veered into the eastbound lane and struck a tree.
