Economic commission plans meeting July 9

Taneytown Economic Development Commission will hold its monthly business breakfast at 7:30 a.m. July 9 at Thunderhead Bowling Centre, 4337 Old Taneytown Road.

Jonas Jacobson, director of waste management administration for the Maryland Department of the Environment, will discuss the Maryland Brownfields program.

The cost for breakfast is $5.50, payable at the meeting. Reservations are required by Wednesday at 410-751-1100.

Key High Class of 1989 to hold reunion July 17

The Francis Scott Key High School Class of 1989 will hold its 15th class reunion from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 17 at the New Windsor Carnival Grounds on Atlee Avenue.

The event will be held picnic-style for the family. The cost is $20 for adults, and children are welcome free of charge.

Taneytown library has story times, games

The Taneytown library branch, 10 Grand Drive, will offer:

"Family Story Time" for all ages (children ages 3 and younger with an adult) at 9:45 a.m. today on "How Does Your Garden Grow?" and 7 p.m. Wednesday on "Red, White and Blue."

"Play Games at the Library" at 4 p.m. Wednesday for teens.

"Old-Fashioned Games" at 10 a.m. Wednesday for ages 4 to 10. Games children used to play, such as hopscotch and jump rope, will be played.

"Cold-Blooded Animals" at 10 a.m. July 9 for ages 4 and older. A Bear Branch Nature Center naturalist will show and discuss reptiles and amphibians that live near us. Tickets are required and may be picked up one week before the program.

"Feed Your Need to Bead" at 1:30 p.m. July 13 for teens. The library will provide materials for making beaded safety pin jewelry, and patterns for more ideas. Registration is required.

New Windsor fire company announces its officers

The New Windsor Volunteer Fire Company has announced officers for 2004.

Administrative officers are: Richard Hooper, president; Dale L. Lowman, vice president; Jack Coe, treasurer, and Ed Palsgrove, assistant; Gail Hooper, corresponding secretary, and Penny Strine, assistant; Barbara Blacksten, financial secretary, and Valerie Lyons, assistant; Neal Roop, chaplain.

Directors are: Ed Palsgrove, Steve Kreimer, Richard Warrenfeltz, Wayne Blacksten, William Kreimer, Ronnie Blacksten, Steve Koontz, Drew Strine, Marcy Munshaur.

Fire officers are: Rick Fritz, fire chief; Byron Welker, assistant fire chief; Steve Koontz, captain; Tom Coe, first lieutenant; Dale Allen Lowman, second lieutenant; Michael Moser, sergeant 10-1; Donald Kinna, sergeant 10-2.

Emergency Medical Services officers are: David Coe, captain; Felix Hill, first lieutenant; Jack Coe, second lieutenant.

Barbara Black is president of the Ladies Auxiliary.

2004 officers chosen at Harney fire company

The Harney Volunteer Fire Company has announced its officers for 2004.

Administrative officers are: James Waybright, president; Charles Blocher, vice president; Richard Yingling, secretary; Leonard Bowers, activity treasurer; Adam Brown, utility treasurer; Robert Baughman, recording secretary; George Clingan, chaplain.

Donald Yingling Sr. is fire chief.

The county delegates are Richard Yingling and Keith Waybright. Trustees are Larry Bowers, Lee Bowers and Donald Yingling Jr.

Public meeting

New Windsor council: New Windsor Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Office, 211 High St. 410-635-6575.
