Woman, 77, dies in Annapolis fire

June 29, 2004

A fire broke out in a two-story Annapolis home yesterday morning, killing a 77-year-old woman, city fire officials said.

The woman, who police declined to identify pending notification of next of kin, was found in the bedroom of the home at 1007 Forest Hills Ave. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire Capt. Douglas Remaley. An autopsy will be conducted.

Remaley said it took two dozen firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which was reported at 7:37 a.m. by a passing motorist. Fire officials said the blaze caused about $15,000 in damage.

The cause of fire was under investigation yesterday.
