Marguerite Nordeen, 62, homemaker, volunteer

Marguerite Nordeen, a homemaker and volunteer, died of cancer Thursday at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care. The Ellicott City resident was 62.

Born Marguerite McGettigan in the Bronx, N.Y., she earned a teaching degree at Good Counsel College in White Plains, N.Y., and a travel agent's certification diploma from Orange Coast College in Fountain Valley, Calif.

After moving to Maryland in 1972, she was a member of the Rockland Elementary School PTA. For many years, she volunteered several days a week answering tourists' questions at an Inner Harbor information center. She was also a part-time travel agent.

She regularly attended Orioles games and traveled.

A funeral Mass was offered Monday at the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection, where she was a member.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 40 years, Robert Daniel Nordeen Sr., a retired engineer; three sons, Robert D. Nordeen Jr. of Owings Mills, Peter T. Nordeen of Oak Creek, Wis., and Todd A. Nordeen of Ellicott City; two brothers, Edward McGettigan Sr. of Norwalk, Conn., and John McGettigan of Santa Monica, Calif.; and two grandsons.
