LARGO - Becky Zanelotti pitched a complete game as Pallotti captured the Maryland Private Schools softball championship, 5-0, over Archbishop Spalding yesterday at Prince George's Community College.

Zanelotti scattered four hits over seven innings and the Panthers scored four runs in the second inning.

Spalding's best chance to score came in the first, but the Cavaliers (14-7) failed to drive in a runner after loading the bases with nobody out.

The game also marked Linda Taylor's final one as the Cavaliers' coach. Taylor won 10 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland titles, eight IAAM tournament titles and five independent schools state championships in 12 seasons at Spalding.
