City teacher accused of raping teen

A 45-year-old Baltimore firefighter who is also a city elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged with raping and assaulting a teenage girl late last year, according to Baltimore County police. A Baltimore Fire Department spokesman confirmed yesterday that Brown is a firefighter and that he has been suspended.

George E. Brown of the 8000 block of Selina Road in Randallstown was arrested May 6 and accused of rape, child abuse, sexual abuse of a minor and assault, according to police reports. Charging documents state that Brown raped the teen on five separate occasions between September and December. Brown is also accused of beating the girl with a rubber hose, police reports state.

The victim called police May 4 and alerted them to the alleged incidents. Brown was arrested at Furley Elementary School in Baltimore, where he is a teacher, a police spokesman said.
