Mildred Ann Thieme, who had worked for a bank and a refrigeration company, died of cancer Monday at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson. She was 68.
Mrs. Thieme was born Mildred Ann Wills in Baltimore and raised in Hamilton. She was a 1954 graduate of Eastern High School and was married two years later to Joseph Herman Thieme. He died in 1996.
From 1956 to 1960, Mrs. Thieme worked at Loyola Federal Savings & Loan, where she was head of the telephone transfer department. After she had raised her children, she returned to work in 1978, when she became an administrator with Century II Refrigeration Supply. Her husband was a part owner of the now-defunct Perry Hall company.
The former Jarrettsville resident, who had lived in Forest Hill since 1996, enjoyed making quilts. She also was an avid swimmer, walker and hiker who enjoyed hiking the old Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad right of way in Harford County. Mrs. Thieme was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church in Rock Spring.
A memorial service was held yesterday at Christ Episcopal Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Vearl Jo-Ann Rill of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Tenley Ann Swann of Forest Hill; a brother, William Richard Wills of Naples, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
