A two-alarm fire ignited by a lightning strike damaged a home yesterday in the first block of Saddlebrook Lane in Brooklandville, Baltimore County Fire Department officials said.

Two unidentified firefighters from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company sustained minor injuries and were treated at Sinai Hospital. The home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

Fire Department spokeswoman Elise Armacost said the fire started before noon after lightning struck the large, two-story contemporary dwelling and sparked a fire within the first floor.

The firefighters were injured when they fell through the weakened flooring.

The cost of the damage had not been established, Armacost said.

The fire was under control a short time after fire units responded.
